Tuesday To-Don't ::

Don't be afraid of {Self-Affirmations}::

Despite their many insecurities, we can take one lesson from the adolescent population... their seemingly endless confidence and self-promotion. Yeah, yeah, many years ago, I too, raised an adolescent who required a daily stream of support and praises when within the walls of our humble abode. But I will testify,LOUDLY, to the enviable public display of shameless self-affirmations, declarations of self approval and confirmations of self-truth and validity that have transformed an ambitious adolescent into a {LUV}-ly woman.

So, taking our lead from these fearless, innovative members of our society, here are a few ways to {luv}-ingly pat yourself on the back:

Find yourself a mirror and say to your reflection*::

~~ "Good golly, I'm a hot tamale!"

~~ "Oh yeah honey, I AM the money!"

~~ "I declare, I {luv} my hair!"

~~ "Your so 'purty', let's get flirty!"

~~ "It's hip and funky, looking this damned chunky!"

~~ "It's super heavy duty, being such a beauty!"

~~ "It's no paradox, that I'm such a fox!"

~~ "Strike a pose, because I adore this nose!"

~~ "I told my Mom, that we're the bomb!"

~~ "With eyes like mine, who needs fine wine"

~~ "Don't me to be so crass, but, I {luv} this a**!"

~~ "Like hot home cooking - I'm that good looking!"

**{special thanx for this 'Bad Girl' installment}

To Don't Tuesdays....

* {VERY} Late Entry...
{where can a gal get good tech support when she needs it?!}. So without further ado...

Don't be afraid to learn a new language...business language - that is. Pick up on the real meaning behind business buzzwords to get ahead {or to stay afloat}

The Buzzwords..............The Buzz

I'd like to build on your point....................I disagree, but you're the boss

We're launching another major initiative...Your life, for the next six months = nightmare

We need to think outside of the box........We're desperate

This is mission critical!..........................Your ass is on the line!

Due diligence!......................................I have a MBA!

CC me on everything..............................I don't trust you for a second

We have to change strategy.....................We don't have a damned clue

These are just a few buzzwords to get you started and keep you in the communication loop. So at least, if you don't know exactly what you're suppose to be doing, you'll know what they're saying about it!!!

To Don't Tuesdays....

Don't be afraid to pave over those pesky Resume' gaps: With the rate of unemployment rising with every bat of an eyelash, now is the time to start to think proactively. None of us want to be the one who has to deliver the Pink Slip news to family, friends & {soon-to-be} ex-coworkers. We all hope that we have done enough in our job areas to have positioned ourselves to be that one all important thing to our employers...indispensible. We live now, in economic times that have us questioning if nepotism or familial ties are enough to keep us in the coveted positions that have made it possible to live the life of comfort that we have grown accustomed.
Instead of waiting for the hammer to come {and secretly wishing and hoping that it won't swing in your direction}, here's a project that will help you pave over those pesky Resume' gaps. It's all in the wording ...

What You Did:...............And the Resume' says:

** Worked at a Blockbuster...........Feature film Distributor

** Answered phones...................Telecommunications Consultant

** Sold cellular phones................Air traffic controller

** Couch potatoe in a slump.........Studied interior design

** Got layed of several times........Business consultant

** Finished writing your novel......Finished writing your screenplay

** Got layed off {with severance pay}...Raised venture-capital funding
for your nonprofit foundation.
** Stayed hyped on xanax.......Conducted extensive pharmaceutical research

To Don't Tuesdays....

Don't be afraid to create opportunities for yourself! Be seen by the 'BIG PLAYERS' in your life, shamelessly. Don't just 'find' yourself in the company of the Power Hitters, create situations/scenerios that place you in their company--- example, you eyeball a Power Hitter walking in your direction, don't step aside while mumbling a bearly audible 'hello'. No, girlie! Accompany that High Roller ,{even if you weren't headed in that direction!} and engage them with a big, confidently spoken "Hello, how are you this morning/afternoon/evening." Then mimick the behavior {imitation is the...}, if they laugh, you laugh. If they stop, you stop...just like that!
Remember... the Zebra that hangs out with a race horse...thinks he's race horse!

To Don't Tuesdays....

Don't be afraid to take yourself on a date!

You will never be bored when you are on a date with yourself. Like the old saying goes, "before you can fall in love with someone else, you have to fall hard for yourself". And that can take some time. There are many pluses to dating yourself: You don't have to {1} wonder if 'he's just not that into you', {2} if you are wearing your steamed broccoli on your teethe, {3} have your best bud save you, via text message, from a bad date, {4}, set through another boring movie, when you'd rather be dancing, {5} act unimpressed with the shiny, new, drop-top sports car, {6} get dressed up, when you'd rather be sporting denim. Instead, go ahead and start the long, luscious process of self love through your first date.

So, what should you do on your first 'self' date...glad that you asked...

** Break out the bubbly! You are going to impress yourself tonight. Start with a buzz, but don't give it all away tonight--if you do, you know that you will respect yourself in the morning.

** Slip into something more comfortable

** Turn on some romantic music and dance "The Waltz"...you lead

** Chase a rainbow

{Tuesday} To-Don't

?WHAT?!...What is this 'Tuesday To-Don't'? I've decided that we need a day committed, totally, to doing the one thing that we ordinarily would hold back on doing. A sort of a 'don't theme day', if you will. It goes something like this:: My 'To-Don't' today is:: Don't feel guilty about the occasional self-pampering. We spend a great deal of our time + energy nurturing and caring for the ones that we love and cherish. Today is our day to 'just do us'. Don't allow this temporary self-indulgent detour stir feelings of guilt!

Here's to {Tuesday} To-Don't...
